The product, in the report: Star Wars Plasma Ball Model: 15157 Serial Number: AC61976
Quick warning of a safety hazard to children. The Uncle Milton Star Wars Science Force Lightning Energy Ball appears to have a defect which could potentially seriously harm a child or even cause a fire. We bought one for Christmas at Toys R Us. Within two seconds of turning it on, it caught on fire and started smoking really bad. I was going to simply exchange it, thinking it was a freak thing, but after Googling it, there are reviews on the Toys R Us site, as well as other stores online, that describe the exact same thing happening to others.
It appears this is a real (potentially dangerous) defect and not a one-off. Hopefully, someone can trigger a recall, in case this causes a really fire somewhere. I did try calling Uncle Milton several times to give them a heads up, but no one would answer on any extension I tried...:-(.
