Dear Consumer Product Safety Commission Officer,

On September 18, 2024, I purchased an “FSA/HSA Eligible Toilet Safety Rails, Adjustable Toilet Safety Frame for Elderly, Seniors, Handicap & Disabled, Toilet Frame with Handles, Foldable Handicap Toilet Rails Fit Any Toilets (300 LB)” on Amazon.com. The product included a hardware bag of bolts and brackets, and it did include mission-critical pieces to make it safe. I have no complaints.

On September 20, 2024, I purchased the “FSA/HSA Eligible Toilet Safety Rails, Adjustable Toilet Safety Frame for Elderly, Seniors, Handicap & Disabled, Toilet Frame with Handles, Foldable Handicap Toilet Rails Fit Any Toilets (300 LB)” product. It did not include a hardware bag of bolts, brackets, and mission-critical pieces to make the product safe. This could cause it to collapse and injure, or even cause death, especially for an elderly person using the product.

After reviewing 1-star ratings today September 23rd, 2024 if have concluded that the MISSING bag of mission crital hardwear parts is a SYSTEMIC issue with this medical equipment based on reviews of peer being injured and product being “unstable and wobbly”.

After further review of Amazon’s “product review guidelines,” I have become aware of a MAJOR problem with Amazon’s policy regarding reviews not showing that they have received a coupon or discounted price. Because I clicked a 5% coupon at checkout, I am held to a review policy whereby my 1-star SAFETY review doesn’t post/show unless the vendor approves “product review.” Your agency and the Attorney General of every State in the United States and abroad must address this issue. This Amazon policy is illegal.

In light of these concerns, I urge the Consumer Product Safety Commission to take immediate action. It is imperative that an investigation into the safety of the “FSA/HSA Eligible Toilet Safety Rails” sold by Lianjindun on Amazon.com be initiated. The potential risk this product poses to the elderly, disabled, and anyone in need of these safety rails cannot be overlooked. Additionally, I call for a review of Amazon’s policy on product reviews, especially those that could impact consumer safety. This policy not only undermines the transparency and reliability of consumer feedback but also potentially endangers lives by allowing unsafe products to continue being sold without proper warning to future buyers.

I have included my order numbers and can provide correspondence with the seller and Amazon if required. Prompt action could prevent future injuries or worse outcomes for others who might use this product. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your ongoing efforts to ensure consumer product safety.

    Sincerely, [REDACTED]
