The product, in the report: The black plastic tank in the Flushmate III pressure-assisted flushing system has a very fine crack in its side which emits a very fine mist. I am now afraid to use it now because the internal pressure could spit it open violently.
I received a Flushmate recall post card in the mail today (Oct. 6, 2012). Their Flushmate III series 503 pressure tanks are failing. I took the tank lid off to check if my serial number matched the recall, it did. I also notice a fine spray of mist coming out of the side of the black plastic pressure tank. Flushmate is sending me a repair kit that consists of a regulator to lower the pressure so the tank doesn’t fail and a steel band for containment if it does explode. Unfortunately my tank has already failed due to this known defect. They are a day late and a dollar short on the regulator. If they had sent me a regulator when first apprised of this problem, I wouldn’t have a crack in my tank now. They should have nipped it in the bud and not taken months to send me a post card. Dragging their feet didn’t make the problem go away and now I’ll be asking for a replacement tank. I’ll keep you informed of Flushmate’s cooperation or lack thereof.
