The product, in the report: Toilet

Dangerous product: I purchased a replacement home toilet From Lowe’s in Arlington Heights, IL on April 22, 2015. The model was an American Standards brand Champion 4 brand made in Mexico.

During the installation, I got a nasty hand cut from the back of the water tank cover. Apparently during the manufacturing process porcelain or glass shards were not removed.

Although I did not suffer any permanent problem, the wound took close to two hours to stop bleeding.

The water tank’s chromium plated flush handle was also somewhat sharp but did not cause me injury. Trying to register my purchase and file a complaint. their suggested web site will only handle air conditioners. Very frustrating!

The American Standard product is especially dangerous in an unhygienic environment of toilet replacement. A.S. should also consider possible danger to young people putting their hands behind the cover.

The submitter added after his injury, he took the tank cover and attempted to grind away the sharp edge against his concrete driveway..He noted it helped, but he pities the next unaware buyer. The submitter also noted American Standard did not reply to his April 25 letter. The submitter also added he is not asking for monetary recuperation, and the public should be aware of this product defect.
