Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Pressure assist flushing system

    Flushmate 503 exploded November 2nd, 2014.

This model was recalled originally with release# 12-201 then again with the same release number for dates of manufacture October 14th, 1997 through February 29th, 2008 then expanded with release# 14-089 for dates of manufacture March 1, 2008 through February 29, 2008.

This consumer is reporting that her Flushmate 503 exploded on November 2nd, 2014 just after her 5 year old grandson had been in the bathroom then she had just walked out of the bathroom when she heard what was an enormously loud sound like that of glass in an explosion.

She checked in the bathroom and saw that her series 503 Flushmate III pressure assist flushing system had exploded.

She has picked up the pieces which number at least 20 large pieces and many small shards. She cut her fingers while cleaning up the pieces but did not require medical attention.

She did require medical attention from a non medical person and believes that she may still have a piece of porcelain in her smallest finger on her left hand.

She cut the smallest finger and the index finger on her left hand and the smallest finger on her right hand.

She has not contacted the manufacturer but does plan to contact them this morning.
