The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Above counter sink Pegasus SF-02 Clear Round Glass Vessel Sink

We had a tempered glass sink in our restroom that exploded, the brand is Pegasus. The tempered glass sink seemed to be in perfect condition (it was less than a year old), including the last time we saw it as we went out at night. When I came home from a night out with my wife, the door to the restroom wouldn’t open due to the glass blocking its path on the floor. We know it had to have exploded due to items being knocked over next to what used to be our sink and pieces of glass, both large and small, reaching the shower (which is not close to where the sink was). It’s clear from the aftermath that this product could have severely hurt someone considering glass of all size was flying in different directions.

We know for a fact nothing hot was left resting on it, nothing fell on it, it exploded without interaction and thankfully nobody was hurt. We decided to Google “tempered glass sink explodes” and found that we aren’t the only ones to experience this. We bought a porcelain sink and will recommend to anyone that wants to listen to stay away from these products. Shocking that they have not removed it from sale considering the reports.

A Pegasus glass vessel sink sold purchased from Home Depot spontaneously exploded @ 1:30 aAM on May 16th while no one was present in the bathroom, sending glass into our bedroom room where it cut my face in 2 areas, as well as scratched our floor and countertop and left imbedded shards throughout the bathroom and hall area. Item is Model # SF-02Internet # 100017900Store SKU # 325244Store SO SKU # 375232. I have seen online that other people have purchased this same sink under the Pegasus and Hembley Creek names and that have also spontaneously shattered. This required extensive clean up and could have killed someone who was in the bathroom. Tiny shards were embedded in the walls. Pieces were in our shower, toilet, bidet and even hit the ceiling. I have contacted home depot to initiate a claim.
