The product, in the report: Kitchen Sink Divider Mat

I have purchased two different kitchen sink divider mats, and both give off a bad smell which gives me a headache.

One product is from Interdesign, S9380-RW1903, sold by Bed, Bath & Beyond and other stores.

The other is from [REDACTED], sold on Amazon and other stores.

The smell is strong, like rotten fish, and scents the room they are in. I contacted [REDACTED] about it, and they said to soak the mat in a soapy vinegar solution for 30 minutes. I did this, and it sweetened the smell for a day, and then it turned fishy again.

I returned both products, but my wife reports that the aisle where they are sold at BB&B has this odor, so it is not unique to our purchases.

I am familiar with chemistry and am concerned that the plasticizer is leeching out of the material and causing indoor air pollution. The fact that the smell gives me a headache implies that they pose a potential health risk.
