The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Oct 3, 2017, sent to the company Mar 6, 2018, published by CPSC Mar 1, 2018

The product, in the report: Glass Vessel sink from BV-G013 Vanity package. Sold by Overstock.com, Item # 10685375, Overstock Order # [REDACTED], purchased new on 9/25/08. Installation date 10/2/17.

We installed a glass vessel sink in our bathroom yesterday and used it 2 or 3 times to test the plumbing after installation. We heard a huge explosion in the middle of the night. Luckily no one was in the bathroom at the time as the floor and counter and outside hallway were covered with thousands of shards of glass. The sink had only been used 2 or 3 times that very first day after it was installed. It did not appear to have any defects in the glass and it was not dropped or hit by anything during the storage or installation process.

My husband and I both got minor lacerations to our hands and feet while trying to clean up the glass shards. We are having a tough time removing all glass fragments as they seem to be everywhere and some are very fine. The sink and a separate glass vanity (which we did not install) were purchased from Overstock.com on 9/25/08, Order # [REDACTED]. It was stored in our basement in it’s original box and Styrofoam packaging until we were ready to do the bathroom remodel last week. The Item Number at Overstock is ITEM#: 10685375. The Web page for the product is https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Pedestal-Glass-Vanity-Stand-with-Glass-Shelves/2458282/product.html.

The installation directions say to contact [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] for any support. I called him this morning but have not gotten a response from him.
