The product, in the report: Product Title on Amazon - “ Best Headlamp Led Flashlight 6000 LM, Super Bright Headlight Torch, Waterproof Hard Hat Light, Rechargeable 18650 headlight, 3 Light 4 Modes Zoom” Sold by: Hai-electronic on Amazon Ordered on January 25, 2019
I purchased three (3) “Headlamp Led Flashlight Waterproof Hard Hat Light, Rechargeable 18650 headlight” from Amazon and produced by Hai-electronic for Christmas 2018. I gave one to my mother [REDACTED] and the other to my friend [REDACTED].
On 6/29/2019 @ approx 1020pm EST [REDACTED] placed his “ Headlamp Flashlight Headlight Rechargeable 18650 headlight” on the charger. 10-15 min later the headlamp exploded and caught fire. After extinguishing the fire it was found that parts of the two batteries had blasted through a cabinet and into the wall of the home. The second battery hit and detonated in the couch less than three feet from [REDACTED] wife and stepson, throwing battery acid and noxious fumes into the air and causing both material damage and possible health issues as the house was now filled with toxic smoke. Fortunately, [REDACTED] was a former paramedic and was able to evacuate his family shortly after the event and then ventilated the house. He contacted me to warn me of the possible danger and I have stopped using the headlamps since. I contacted Amazon to apprise them of the issue and was issued a credit for the item and told that it would be investigated for a possible recall.
