The product, in the report: Brinkmann 9 LED Spotlight

I turned on my Brinkmann 9 LED Spotlight (Item 809-1201-S) and it was blinking and going out a lot so I open it up and tried to pull out the battery compartment but I burnt my hand from the heat of the shorting out parts and dropped the compartment. I was able to reach down and find it in the dark but it was still quite hot and you could smell the burnt plastic. I later took it inside but the stench of the melted plastic was so nauseating after 10 minutes that I had to put it in the garage. I find it a bit difficult to believe that such a sever short could not occur without there being a design flaw in this spotlight. I also notice that a previous set of new batteries had die with only minutes of use the night before. I now suspect the same short may have cause this to happen as well only more slowly but I can not be certain. However, it’s completely clear that so much heat could not have been created in mere seconds (about half a minute) without a sever arching occurring within the spotlight.
