  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 15, 2025, sent to the company Jul 3, 2025, published by CPSC Jul 25, 2025

The product, in the report: Product Name: Persilux Custom 100% Blackout Roller Shades Color: Grey Size/Dimensions: 72 inches (Height) 23 inches (Width) Product Type: roller shades Fabric Type: Striped Jacquard, thermal-insulated Light Control: 100% blackout Operation Method: Continuous metal bead chain loop (corded system) Use Case / Intended Location: Residential use installed in a childs bedroom and living room windows Purchased From: Amazon (online marketplace) Purpose: To block light and provide thermal insulation

I purchased the Persilux Custom 100% Blackout Roller Shades (72” H x 23” W, Grey) online for use in a home with children. After installation, I noticed that the blinds operate using a metal bead chain loop that hangs freely. The chain is long enough to form a hazardous loop within a childs reach.

While no injury has occurred yet, I realized this poses a serious strangulation risk, especially for small children who might become entangled in the loop. The product did not include any cord tensioning device or child-safety warning label, and the design does not comply with current U.S. or EU child safety standards for window coverings.

Given recent recalls of similar roller blinds due to this exact issue, I believe this product is unsafe and could cause serious injury or death if not addressed.

The product, in the report: The product is a set of corded zebra blinds (also known as transitional shades or dual-layer roller shades) designed for interior window covering. It is a fabric blind with alternating sheer and opaque horizontal stripes that can be adjusted for light control and privacy. The blinds operate using a looped cord mechanism on one side, which allows the user to raise, lower, or align the stripes. The specific product purchased is approximately 71 inches wide by 72 inches long. It is light gray in color, with a grey headrail. The cords are made of nylon and hang freely on the side, accessible to children. Sold on Amazon under the name: Persilux Zebra Blinds Dual Layer Roller Sheer Shades (71” W X 72” H, White) Light Filtering Privacy Light Control for Day and Night Roller Window Shades Home and Office https://www.amazon.com/Persilux-Custom-Blinds-Windows-Filtering/dp/B08DHFCBZB and with other variations and color

I purchased corded zebra blinds from Amazon and found that the product includes long, exposed cords that hang freely and pose a strangulation risk to children. These types of corded window coverings have been identified by the CPSC as dangerous, especially in homes with young children. The product does not appear to comply with the updated safety standards for window coverings that require cordless or inaccessible cord designs. I am reporting this because the product is still being actively sold on Amazon and could be hazardous to children who might become entangled in the cords.
