  • No one hurt 2 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Feb 11, 2014, sent to the company Feb 24, 2014, published by CPSC Mar 11, 2014

The product, in the report: Westek XP30KC 20-Watt Xenon Accent Light Kit, 3 Pack, Nickel

Westek XP30KC 20-Watt Xenon Accent Light Kit, 3 Pack, Nickel, a product sold AmerTac on Amazon. I bought the product in Oct. 2013. In Feb, 2014, I noticed a burning smell. I recalled that this set of lights began to dim periodically the week before on its own. Thankfully I checked the lights and found that the plastic was burnt and melted at the transformer junction. I have no doubt that this would have caused a fire had I not noticed it. The product has UL markings on a sticker on the transformer. The product was correctly installed per manufacturer instruction. I have posted a review on Amazon, as well as, a photo of the burnt unit. The company, AmerTac, sells this product on Amazon.
