  1. No one hurt

Made Dec 19, 2019, sent to the company Jan 16, 2020, published by CPSC Feb 7, 2020

The product, in the report: bathroom ceiling light fixture

The consumer’s husband turned the bathroom light on and the incident occurred immediately.

The ceiling light fixture has 7 light bulb holders. One of the bulbs separated from its base and broke the glass globe around it. The bulb was completely enclosed inside the globe and the glass portion of the bulb remained intact, even after separating from the base and landing on the floor, approximately 8’ below. The metal portion that remained in the base in now blackened in color.

The husband was not injured, but there was glass all over the floor.

There have not been any incidents in the past.

The lighting was installed September or October 2018, by a licensed electrician.

12/16/2019: The consumer called the manufacturer and their rep. said they would replace the light fixture or the bulb, if the consumer preferred. The consumer opted for the fixture replacement. Their rep. noted that their records indicated that this has happened one time previously.

12/19/2019: The consumer received an entire new fixture ($260.00) from the firm. The consumer was advised to send the damaged fixture back to them in the same box. The consumer will have to cover the cost of installation.

The consumer noted that the bulbs were purchased directly from the manufacturer, at the same time that they purchased the fixture. However, the firm does not sell them any longer.
