The product, in the report: Recessed lights found in over 500 condos hallways, kitchen and bathrooms. Some have been known to be short circuiting due to flakey wiring and overheating.
The Recessed Lighting in our purchased condo has had issues. These lights were installed in a condo purchased from Douglaston Development. Some of the energy efficient light bulbs burn out after 6 months. Other lights have short circuited due to wires that have disintegrated and then have contact with metal and blows out the light permanently. This product was installed in over 520 apartments and numerous condo owners have had issues. The product comes from China and is made by NORA lighting. This is the label on the can NTS 4226W 2009 05 NS-401/BT15 Serial# 7 32180 40331 8.
As an electrician I am worried that this not only could cause a potential fire, but should a homeowner try to switch out a light bulb they could encounter and electric shock from the exposed wires that are wrapped around the socket.
