  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 6, 2013, sent to the company Jul 15, 2013, published by CPSC Jul 29, 2013

The product, in the report: Antique bronze colored metal and frosted yellow glass light shades. Two tiers of lights, six at the bottom and three immediately above. Decorative flower shaped pieces at the top of the chandelier stem from which the chain extends to the ceiling and immediately above the bottom part of the chandelier body to which the arms that hold the lower lamps are attached. Nine lamp holders that repeat the floral pattern of the stem pieces. Two pieces of ornamental scrolling attached to the top flower shaped piece and extending down into the area of the top three lights.

I was in the family room, two stories high, where the chandelier was installed and hanging from the ceiling. Suddenly, I heard a noise that came from the ceiling above my head; it was the chandelier falling off the ceiling. It came down and missed my head, when I saw that, I almost had a heart attack. Luckily, it did not fall off completely; it had stopped in the midst of air. The ring, which was connected to the rod and to the chain coming from the ceiling, had been broken. The rod luckily continued holding up the rest of the lights and did not come apart from the ring, which was dangling barely with the ground wire (the copper wire). The ring, which was connected to the ceiling chain and to the rod, had malfunctioned and was not strong enough to hold the weight of the chandelier.
