The product, in the report: 5 Light Farmhouse Rectangular Cage Semi Flush Mount W x H xD - 31.5 in x 8.7 in x 10.2 in OR 80cm x 22 cm x 26cm 120 Volt AC- claims to be UL Listed
Following the instructions provided, I installed a ceiling mounted light bar that is centered over an electrical box for our kitchen island from LightFixuresUSA and when I flipped the switch there was a sudden popping noise and then one of the 5 lights on the lightbar went dark. I checked for voltage using my multimeter and there was zero voltage at the socket.
I removed the light and found one of the wires was burned (the black hot wire). My initial thought was it was simply a bad wire from the company. I took down the mounting bar and then it became obvious.
The mounting bar sits directly above the the light sockets right where the wires protrude. This allows the installer to tighten the light and create a pinching situaltion that could push the hot wire tightly against the bar, which is gorunded through the green ground wire. It appears they made an attermpt to install a limiter, but that is what a you are fastening the light with - so it moves up as it is tightened, defeating its purpose - Thus creating a potential fire hazard.
The installation instruction made no provistion for the limiter and was simply a picture. The english in the instruction were never proofed for acccuracy as it istate to use a little glue to clean the lights - LOL
