The product, in the report: Jasco Enbrighten 12” Plug In LED Undercabinet Light Fixture 44270, white housing, 355 lumens, with detachable plug and linking cord. Bar Code 30878 44270, box labled GTIN#00030878442701. Unit back label says Descriptor: UCL/41/12/21/5/120. 120VAC, 60Hz, 0.048A, made in China, Dry Location Only, Suitable for Under Cabinet Mounting. “E324023” and “1930” are printed on label. UL sticker with what appears to be “No N 17487420” printed on it.
Jasco Enbrighten 12” Plug-In LED Undercabinet Light Fixture 44270 purchased 12/2019 was noticed to be hot to the touch after about an hour in use on 2/11/2022. Unit was left on and monitored for about 2 more hours. At that time, temperature was checked with a [REDACTED] laser non-contact thermometer and an area adjacent to the switch, on the translucent portion, measured 165 degrees F. Unit was still illuminated when unplugged and removed. The back surface has melted a bit and the overall unit is now warped. Upon cooling, the unit will not relight. Unit was installed new, never relocated, and was connected with the factory cord to a receptacle with known proper polarity and 120V voltage. Unit had been used frequently from dusk to late evening since installation, and at other times as necessary, but was probably never on for 24 hours continuously. Note I have two other units purchased and installed at the same time, with similar use history, and they are working properly at this time and do not seem to get excessively hot, although one appears to get slightly warmer than the other. Also note I am a Professional Engineer with relevant professional experience in assessing problems such as this.
