No one hurt Made Aug 4, 2014, sent to the company Aug 13, 2014, published by CPSC Aug 27, 2014
The product, in the report: This is a fluorescent tube lighting unit that is about 1” high so it fits underneath cabinets without being visible. It is 22” long. GE brand, model # 10111. Order code UCF24/EB/P, manufactured for Jasco Products Co. UL sticker says 07/05, E214409, issue No. BK-32,154 I tried to upload images, but there seems to be a problem with that function. I have images I can send. Just let me know how.
The fluorescent tube stopped working. Upon replacing the tube, I noticed that the plastic housing had started to melt and showed burn marks on both ends and also near the middle section. While we did not have a fire or any other damage, the potential for a fire is clearly very high. Since this is a light we leave on at night while we sleep, it is a concern if other units should start fires. We have switched to an LED unit, but these low profile fluorescent tube lighting units are still available at Home Depot.
