The product, in the report: Firefly Pendant from CB2. http://www.cb2.com/firefly-pendant-light/s632279. This same problem exists with the Firefly 2 pendant. http://www.cb2.com/firefly-ii-pendant-light/s446006?. They are pendant lights with 5 and 9 globes respectively.
I have only had a minor safety incident with this product but there is a great potential.
The plastic nut that holds the glass globe to the light socket is not the correct size. There is a candelabra-size, threaded bulb socket that holds up a glass globe which is approx. 9” in diameter. The nut is injection molded plastic and no two are quite the same size. They don’t thread properly onto the male thread.
I had removed the globes to clean them and was re-installing. I had the globes back on and some of the light bulbs back in. The one globe slid down and pushed the nut off the socket breaking the light bulb in the process. Luckily the light was off at the time and I was able to catch the globe. I was wearing gloves so I wouldn’t get fingerprints in the globes so I was not cut by the broken glass from the light bulb.
