The product, in the report: Altair 14” LED CEILING FLUSH MOUNT light MODEL AL-3162
Altair Lighting 14” LED Ceiling Flush Mount Light, MODEL AL-3162 - purchased and installed in November 2019. Mid-July 2025, the light began dysfunctioning, only turning on sometimes. After about a week, we smelled burning plastic. Suspecting the wonky light to be the culprit, we removed the cover to find that the LED driver had begun to melt. The plastic driver unit was burning from the metal inside and was misshapen and cracking apart. There were burn marks on the metal base and surrounding wires. We immediately disconnected the light and removed it. No one was injured and no further damage to the ceiling or house has been discovered.
