The product, in the report: Walmart Great Value Product. Four foot led tube light to replace 4 foot fluorescent light. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-LED-17-Watts-32W-40W-Equivalent-T8-T12-Replacement-Lamp-G13-Base-Non-dimmable-Cool-White-48-inches-2-Pack/483056523 Model GVL4t812412
LED replacement light tube installed to replace a fluorescent 4 foot tube. The led light burned up at one end four months after replacing a fluorescent tube light. It reached a temperature that melted the glass tube. The two prong electric contact end melted off the light tube. The internal components reached a temperature that evaporated them. This resulted in the hot light tube connecter end melting off the end of the tube. The [REDACTED] light fixture connected to the damaged light end melted, plastic and metal. The connector end along with melted glass and metal rained down on the light diffuser under the light. Only the diffuser and the fixture itself prevented a fire. The product has no warning on the light tube of any potential fire hazards. Another led light tube in a different fixture was found to have overheated at one end at the same time. My wife bought the tubes while I away and installed the lights. I can only reference the website since the fire for the installation instructions. The website does mention that lights must be installed in a fixture with a compatible ballast. There is an obscure ballast chart with no link to a legible ballast chart. There is on the website a testimonial of the product being used successfully with a non-compatible ballast. The website has no mention of a fire hazard with a non-compatible ballast, just the testimonial that non-compatible ballasts will allow the light to work. I would have expected a warning on the website and the package of a fire hazard. A warning large enough that someone not familiar with ballasts would recognize that there is a fire hazard. I will attach a print of the webpage.
