The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 12, 2022, sent to the company Oct 17, 2022, published by CPSC Oct 31, 2022

The product, in the report: Lamp, unknown brand (no markings) Bulb, compact florescent lamp; most likely SATCO brand, identified as a self-ballasted lamp E175716

A table lamp and light bulb “burst”, resulting in the “ejection” of the bulb from the lamp and a brief shot of flames from the lamp. There is no brand information on the lamp although it includes a UL sticker and a made in China sticker. The bulb is a CFL, also UL listed and most likely a SATCO Ultra Mini 18W, 500K 120V 60Hz 290mA bulb. While the bulb “ejected”, the base remained in the lamp, and is significantly damaged. Flames shot from the lamp resulting in minor damage to the shade. The bulb landed near the base of the lamp on the desk on which the lamp was sitting. The bulb was in flames for a brief time also. The lamp was being used in its usual manner. No one was injured and there was no damage other than to the lamp and bulb. I have photos.
