The product, in the report: Compact fluorescent lightbulb
This is in connection with a HONEYWELL CFL S26N 26W Natural Light Bulb. It also has the following, UL listed E222787 -53SJ appearing on the ballast section. This bulb was in service approx 3 years, inserted in a bed lamp stand. The bulb caught fire where the spiral glass portion enters the ‘ballast base”. (on the R.H. side when looking at the word, ‘Honeywell’) There was also heavy smoke emitted. Fortunately, as this was next to the bed, the fire was contained to the light fixture, when the current to the light bulb was switched off. However, had we not been home & in bed, to switch off the CFL Bulb, we are sure the fire would have spread in the home with unbelieveable consequences. This is most disconcerting, as we do leave some CFL lights on when we are not at home. We are thus very concerned that CFL bulbs can cause catastrophic problems if CFL bulbs are left unattended. As always - thanks! [REDACTED]
