The product, in the report: Halco LED ProLED low-voltage, dimmable light bulb, number 80705 It’s a 2.2watt, 10-18volt 110 lumens, 30 degree warm white

I purchased an LED low-voltage light bulb that was being installed in a “niche” wall. On Sunday, June 23, 2013, while the light bulb was on, I noticed the bulb flicker, then smoke began to come out of the wall enclosure. The bulb is mounted in a recessed can-style lighting fixture. I immediately killed the power to the lights. Thinking at first it may have been a wire connection, I began inspecting the connections that were visible to me. The wiring was fine. When I removed the bulb, it was still hot, and a small portion of the bulb’s base had begun to melt. The smoke had an acrid smell and was very distinct. Only the bulb had that same smell.
