The product, in the report: Lights of America: 2814L 120volt ~ 60 Hz 14watts 255mA (168) E67590 Self-ballasted Lamp 53SJ
While we were watching TV last night the bulb in the lamp nearest us spontaneously combusted, sending smoke and flames up through the top of the lampshade. If we had not been there to extinguish the fire we most likely would have had a serious house fire.

No one hurt Made Apr 3, 2013, sent to the company Apr 25, 2013, published by CPSC May 9, 2013
The product, in the report: 4 Watt LED light bulb
My incident report relates to 4-watt LED light globes made by Lights of America, 611 Reyes Drive, Walnut, CA 91789. I purchased these lights at Costco today.
The lights have a clear plastic globe that is glued to the plastic base containing electronics using hot-melt adhesive. After about 10-minutes of operation, the base gets hot enough to melt the glue. The clear plastic globe comes off and exposes the underlying LEDs and electrical connections.
There is about 35 Vac present between the exposed electrical connections and safety ground. The LEDs also get hot enough to be unpleasant to the touch. The radiometrically measured LED temperature was 136 °F.
These lights are dangerous and defective. I will be returning them to Costco for a refund tomorrow.
I have taken pictures of the lights and the packaging, which I can share upon request.

The product, in the report: Lights of America 125V 60HZ 25W .37A COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULB Model 2425-S (071) UL Listed 633T
Had a Lights of America 125V 25W COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULB in a recessed light fixture with an open bezel. Purchased from Menards. Fixture is in a soffit (non-wet) location. After several months of use I recently noticed that the glass twisted tube was hanging free of the base via two internal wires. The glass tube section and separated from the plastic base and a printed circuit board was exposed. There is soot on the outside of the plastic base and glass tube and several components of the circuit board are burned. There is also soot on the ceramic socket of the recessed light fixture.

No one hurt Made Dec 22, 2011, sent to the company Jan 3, 2012, published by CPSC Jan 25, 2012
The product, in the report: Light bulb 2426 T Self-Ballasted Lamp 120V 60Hz 26W 390mA (445)
My daughter was in her room when she smelled something burning. She immediately called me from my room and started to investigate where it was coming from. I initially check all the wall electrical outlets but no obvious sign of burning. The fumes at this time was extremely strong to a point of being toxic. Until we noticed the smoke visibly coming from the lamp. With the fumes and smoke, my daughters began to panic and started screaming because the smoke is now spreading to the room. I unplugged the lamp and turned off the light switch. This was a very scary moment for all of us. We all thought that we would have a fire in the house.
I contacted Lights of America by e mail and they responded with an explanation why this occurred but no advise if the bulbs are safe to use and if we should continue using the products. I, as a consumer, has the responsibility to report and to make sure that I have taken the steps before someone gets hurt.

No one hurt Made Nov 18, 2011, sent to the company Nov 29, 2011, published by CPSC Dec 13, 2011
The product, in the report: Lights of America 2830 L 30W Incadescent Bulb E67590 Self-Ballasted Lamp 53SJ
My wife, who is disabled, was sitting in the family room. I was in an other room. All of a sudden smoke started rising from inside the shade of a floor lamp. She called me. I unplugged the lamp and discovered that the florescent light bulb which was installed in the lamp was chared and smoking. The bulb was a “Lights of America” 30 W bulb with the label “E67590 Self-Ballasted Lamp 53SJ” writtten on it. It was charred and smoking where one of the tube ends enters the base. There seems to be a plastic ring cover over the base at this point. The bulb was very hot.
This was very scary for us, particularly my wife who could not have dealt with the matter if she was alone, which she many times is. We also leave this lamp on when no one is in the room and even when we are gone. I do not what would have resulted if I had not turned it off. We were afraid the shade would have caught on fire which could have led to a major fire. The smoke itself was very bad. If this is at all to be expected from this type of bulb we consider it unsafe and completely unacceptable.
We know that these type of bulbs are now being mandated over incadescent type bulbs. We have never had a problem with an incadescent bulb.

The product, in the report: 26 watt Compact Fluorescent lightbulb branded “Lights of America” (made in China).
A 26w compact fluorescent lightbulb branded “Lights of America” (made in China) flickered, emitted lots of acrid smelling smoke, and it’s base was way too hot to remove from the fixture using a hand. I had to get an oven mitt to unscrew it and get it outside the house. Then I had to clean up the deposits on the fixture from the bulb.

The product, in the report: Compact Florescent Bulb 14 watt screw-in
CFL lightbulb burned in lamp. Lamp did not seem to be on, then started flashing and flickering in bright yellow and orange and there was a strong odor of electronics burning. Lamp was a floor lamp with basic on-off switch. shade/diffuser was a wide translucent white cone completely open at the top. I turned the lamp off, unplugged the lamp then unscrewed the very hot bulb. There appears to be burned material in the center of the top of the base, surrounded by the CFL tube. Some of this burned material may be dust or insect remains. Bulb: Lights of America 2414-T Self-Ballasted Lamp, 120V 60Hz 14W 230umA(394) We have no record of where or when this bulb was purchased.
