The product, in the report: T8 LED tube
The submitter said the unit was installed on September 13 and the light was on for most of the day.
On September 14, the submitter said the light was on for about 2-3 hours during which he noticed a burn odor. The submitter then noticed the unit caught on fire and fell to the floor. The submitter said one end of the unit is totally burned off.
The submitter said he had another incident with a similar product the previous day and it prompted him to contact the retailer to report the issue. The retailer sent out a technician on Friday, September 15 to inspect the two incidents. The technician confirmed that the installation was not the cause of the incident. The retailer reached out to the firm and notified them of the incident.
The submitter received an email from the firm today and he said the firm acknowledged that there are safety concerns with the products. The submitter believes the products should be removed from the market before it causes a fire.
The submitter said these lights are installed at his business.
