The product, in the report: “Warm white” LED lightbulb The following text is printed on the bulb: A1600/830/10KLED/2(L) 14W/3000K/1500LM 120VAC 60Hz 202mA UL#E330072

Product: Feit Electric LED lightbulb with the following text printed on it A1600/830/10KLED/2(L) 14W/3000K/1500LM 120VAC 60Hz 202mA UL#330072

Incident: Lightbulb had been in use for several years in a bedroom lamp. About an hour after I turned the lamp on, the lightbulb began smoking and emitting a strong chemical odor. I turned off and unplugged the lamp before property damage or injuries occurred. The lightbulb is now dark gray, presumably due to a fire and/or smoke within the glass bulb portion.

The product, in the report: Feit Electric 9.5W LED bulb

I have been using a Feit Electric 60W-equivalent LED bulb for a long time (possibly years) without any problems. Yesterday I turned the light switch on and the bulb turned on normally, then went dim. A short time later, thick grey smoke starting coming out of the bulb. I immediately turned off the light switch. The base of the bulb was too hot to touch. There is no visible damage on the bulb or the light socket. A day later, the base of the bulb still has a strong acrid smell. It seems to me that this bulb could have caught fire had I not turned it off so quickly.

The product, in the report: FEIT BR30 LED light bulb BPCEBR30/927/LED/2

I was in my living room when I started smelling a strange odor. Several minutes later, I heard a crackling sound coming from above me, just as I was getting ready to go outside. When I looked up, smoke was streaming from a FEIT BR30 LED light bulb. I immediately turned off the power and removed the bulb. The bulb was so hot, I had to remove it with an oven mitt. Upon inspection, I could see that the bulb had partially burned the fixture it was installed in, and the bulb’s own plastic housing had caught fire and melted. I tried contacting the manufacturer, FEIT, but they don’t seem to be concerned with the fact that their product could have burned down our house. It took several days to fully vent the noxious odors out of our house.

Feit Electric LED light bulb - model number CEOM60/927/LED6 Lot number 256-18-01 This is a bulb that was installed in a vanity fixture in a bathroom over a sink controlled by a single, non-dimming switch. I believe it to be less than a year old, but not certain when it was purchased or installed. Light was used about 3-4 hours a day So far only one has failed, but I am very concerned about the failure mode. The light bulb flickered of and on twice and then began to smoke horribly. I turned off the switch and removed the bulb from service. If I had not been in the room, I believe this would have become a house fire.

The product, in the report: BR30 light bulb for recessed overhead lighting fixture

This product is a light bulb used throughout my home. It installs in a recessed ceiling fixture. While installing the bulb, I twisted the telescoping pole to seat the bulb. The bulb lit momentarily and exploded into many glass shards that fell down on me. The bulb socket remains in the fixture. Many shards were paper thin and many were very sharp.

I compared the bulb I removed from the socket initially with another bulb from the same box as the one that exploded and found the original bulb was a little longer allowing it to fit into the fixture easier. Both bulbs are indicated to meet specification BR30, 65 Watts but the shorter one that blew up probably does not.

The product, in the report: Feit Electric LED light bulb. Replaces a [REDACTED] base compact fluorescent bulb. Size is similar to a standard incandescent light bulb.

This light bulb has a [REDACTED base and is designed to be an LED replacement for CFL bulbs, this bulb does not require a ballast bypass modification that many of these types of bulbs require. I replaced about a dozen CFL bulbs in my apartment with these ones, I purchased them at Home Depot about a year ago. A few months ago I had one go out and received a new one under warranty. Last week I had another one go out and had plans to do the same but had not removed it from the ceiling sconce yet. The switch that this bulb was connected to drives two lights so I continued using the second one. These lights aren’t used on a regular basis. Yesterday, the switch was left on for a number of hours and we noticed a very strong burnt plastic smell. After spending some time trying to find where the smell was coming from I discovered that it was coming from the bulb. I pulled the bulb from the sconce and found a very charred base. The base in the sconce was destroyed and the bulb itself was very warm closer to the base. I now do not feel safe having any of these bulbs in my apartment, especially since two of them failed, and one catastrophically. I’m pretty sure that if the first one that burned out had been left in and turned on it would have done the same.

This is a LED instant-on light bulb made by FEIT ELECTRIC COMPANY. 60 watt replacement uses only 13.5 watts. It was installed in the recess light fixture above my small dining table near the kitchen. We use the kind of energy saving light bulbs (instant-on or not) a lot for a long time. The incident happened at around 8:05 pm on 12/31/2017. The light bulb had been on for several hours before the incident. Suddenly, My wife noticed the light bulb went dark and making noise. The bottom round (glass like) piece and the majority light bulb (the heavy portion) popped out separately and the light bulb went on fire by itself. I turned off the switch right away and the fire stopped. After it cooled down, I removed the small portion of the light bulb that was screwed on the light fixture. The recess light fixture was fine except some burning marks that can be wiped out easily. I changed to another LED light bulb (but not instant-on type) to test the light fixture on the next day. It has been no problem. If we had not been in the house to stop the fire immediately when this happened, this could have been a disaster to us.

We moved to this house in 2006 and the house was inspected and has C/O. We never change the wire and light fixture for the one that had the incident. We bought the light bulbs from Costco.

The product, in the report: Please see incident description. [Feit Electric, par 38, led bulbs]

Using 11 Feit Electric, par 38, led bulbs in recessed ceiling recepticals in my woodshop and garage. Purchased from Menards, Battle Creek store around 4/2013. On 9/22/2017, while working in my woodshop with 9 of these lights on, one began to roll smoke out of one of the light recepts. I shut off all power to the shop and removed the bulb and pulled the recessed recept. out of the soffitt. The bulb had begun to burn through the plastic casing just below the metal part which screws into the recept. The receptical housing itself didn’t get hot enough to melt, as I happened to catch it in time. Had I not been right there for a longer period of time, I believe that this could have potentially burned my shop, garage and house down. PAR38/5K/LEDG5 20W 120VAC 60Hz 165 mA 1000 Lumens. 17-12-25B

FEIT Electric LED light model BPCEA19/OM800/LED was installed in a chandelier fixture over our kitchen table. It was one of 9 bulbs in the chandelier, all LED. It had been installed about a year or so, under normal household use. One night, my wife heard a loud pop and looked at the source of the noise to see fire shooting up from this light bulb, several inches high spewing ash and smoke into the air. It set off our smoke alarms, and continued to burn even after electricity had been cut off, until I smothered the flames. The fire was so hot it cracked the glass light diffuser around the bulb. I took photos of the aftermath to the chandelier and the bulb itself.

We were sitting on our couch in our living room when we suddenly smelled something burning. We searched the house and finally discovered smoke billowing from a lamp that contained a Feit 3 Way lightbulb. The bulb had caught fire. We immediately removed the lightbulb (carefully, as it was on fire) and took pictures of the bulb afterwards. This could have turned into a major house fire if it had happened when we were not home.

Tonight, we had a CFL spiral light bulb in a ceiling fixture that began flickering and soon burned out. A few minutes later, we noticed a foul chemical smell and smoke collecting on the ceiling. My husband went to remove the bulb carefully, noticed the glass spiral was cool to the touch but the base was extremely hot. He also noticed that where the spiral glass met the base it was severely burned and had begun to melt. We had a second bulb (from the same packaging) within the fixture that had not yet burned out, and decided to check on it. The second bulb had slight discoloration in the same location. I have pictures of both bulbs available, and will keep the bulbs if needed for your information.

We are concerned what may have happened if we hadn’t been around to remove the bulb when we did, if it would have caught fire. The concern also is if the mercury within the bulb released and what health issues may arise from this. We are currently fanning the smoke out of our window in hopes of dissipating the foul smell.

On 04-11-2016, I was standing underneath one of the light fixtures. The bulb burned out, I looked up and immediately heard an electrical crackling noise and saw smoke coming from the bulb and fixture. I turned the lightswitch off immediately.

I waited for the bulb to cool and removed it. A part of the bulb now extends through the base and was shorting out in the light fixture.

My concern is that if I had not been standing underneath this light or had not been home, my home would have started on fire.

These bulbs need to be recalled immediately.

The product, in the report: CFL light bulb 23 watt

We have a swing arm lamp that clamps to a tabletop, with a single FEIT CFL light bulb that we use to light a work bench in the basement. On Sunday, Sept 30, 2012, the light was turned on while my husband was in the basement. After a while, my husband realized that the light had turned off, so he started to unscrew the CFL bulb and it exploded, blowing a 1 inch piece of glass into his hand. The glass shards made cuts in his finger and thumb, and there was a puff of smoke.

After this incident occurred, I read on the internet that we should shut down the heating system and crack a window in the basement for ventilation, which we did. However, we are very concerned about contamination from mercury entering into the cuts on my husbands fingers and both of us breathed in the smoke. I put the broken CFL bulb in a [REDACTED] bag and saved it.

Went into the kitchen about 6:00 AM. Turned on the kitchen chandelier -- 5 40 watt style G9 halogen bulbs Flash!! Bang!! One bulb exploded. The explosion shattered the glass shield around the bulb -- the glass shade was unharmed. There were little sharp chunks of glass all over the kitchen and kitchen table. The bulb appears to have totally disintegrated as the only recognizable pieces of the bulb were the two wire contacts left in the socket. Those I had to remove with forceps. I could find neither the filament nor the filament holder things.

The bulb was one of several FEIT Electric 40w Halogen G9 base bulbs bought at Orchard Hardware Supply (OSH) in Sunnyvale about the time the fixture was purchased about 3 years ago. It had been in the chandelier for some time, maybe close to its 2000 hour life expectancy. It had been on the previous evening during dinner.

Florescent lightbulbs purchased and placed in laundry room in January 2011.

Caller was in laundry room when one of the bulbs blew out, the end came off sending glowing embers onto his linoleum floor.

The portion of the bulb that screws into the socket remains in the socket.

Caller is reporting due to belief that if this bulb’s lighted embers had fallen onto clothing or any combustible it could have started a fire that could have done property or physical damage especially if no one was at home.

We used a compact fluorescent bulb in a lamp whose shade clips directly on to the bulb (this was probably designed with old-fashioned incandescent bulbs in mind). The pressure from the shades clip seems to have cut right through the bulb, releasing the toxic contents (mercury) into our home.

The light bulb was placed in a ceiling fan light when powering the light switch in the on position she heard a pop sound followed with a electrical burning odor . The light switch was powered in the off position.

After removing the light bulb from the light fixture she noticed that the portion that screws into the base is brownish as if smoke came from it. The swivel portion of the bulb is blackened.

She is not sure exactly where the light bulbs were purchased from and she thinks that the light bulbs have been in the light fixture for approximately a year and a half.

She recalls that the failure occurred with one other light bulb in a different light fixture. Since the failure occurred she has replaced all of the light bulbs in the home.

The product, in the report: 18 Flourescent Bulb

Consumer stated that her spiral fluorescent light bulb, inserted in a recessed lighting fixture burned up. The consumer is unsure if her bulb is similar to spiral bulbs that have been recalled. The bulb has cinge marks. The bulb emitted a burning smell of a fire and had flames come out of the bulb’s white ceramic that was half an inch long. The ceramic is now cinged also. The consumer heard a popping noise coming from the bulb. The consumer decided not to call the fire department at the time of the incident. The bulb is 15 watts and 120 volts.

The light bulb flickered just before the incident. The consumer is unsure how long the bulb was in use and when it was installed in the fixture. The flame went out when the light bulb burned itself out. The consumer has yet to call the retailer or the manufacturer since the incident took place. The damage of the product did not spread to the structure of her home. The consumer was not harmed by the product.

We had a FEIT Electric 3WAYDAYLIGHT 50-100-150 3way replacement bulb in a 3 way lamp. Tonight,a strong odor of plastic burning starting filling the home. Took a few minutes to figure out where the smell was originating from, and came across the lamp, with smoke steaming up from the top. When I glanced down to look, the where the bulb met the hard plastic base, was blackened, and melting and now smoking. The lamp had only been on for about an hour. I was able to safely unplug the lamp, and unscrew the bulb before any serious damage or injury occurred, however, while unscrewing the bulb, I noticed that the entire hard plastic base of the bulb was really hot.
