How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 2 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Sep 26, 2018, sent to the company Oct 4, 2018, published by CPSC Oct 19, 2018

The product, in the report: This is a Playtex Transitions step stool in the color blue meant for use by toddlers. It is manufactured by Ginsey.

My three year old child was standing on this step stool (Playtex Transitions blue, date code 08/17-85) reaching for something when the base of the step stool split down the middle, causing my child to fall. Thankfully, he was not injured, but if he had fallen differently he could have been. I reported this to the manufacturer, who sent a replacement in a different product, as this was the second time that this product has broken while my child was using it. In report 20171102-1857E-2147396200 I described a previous time this happened. The broken product was shipped back to the manufacturer on 09/26/2018 for inspection.

The product, in the report: This is a child’s bathroom steps tool (could not find a category in children’s that was right). It is a blue Playtex Transitions step stool manufactured by Ginsey.

My two year old child was standing on this step stool (Playtex Transitions, blue) brushing his teeth when the plastic cracked down one side and caused him to fall. Thankfully, he was not injured but given the mechanism he could have been. I reported the incident to the manufacturer the same day, and was provided with a replacement a few days later, and asked to return the broken one to them for testing. The broken item was delivered back to the manufacturer on October 23, 2017.
