  1. Hurt, no treatment

The product, in the report: Piccalio mini chef convertible helper tower

My daughter tried resting her hands on the handlebar of the Piccalio Foldable Helper Tower to find the bar mechanism flipped around and hit her in the back. The top main handlebar is not secured at all so it can be folded up, however, and pressure put on the front bar will cause the folding mechanism to engage and the bar to flip around and cause a toddler to totally lose stability and/or get hit in the back. I am so shocked this product is on the market! I confirmed multiple times that i assembled it correctly and also reached out to their customer service.

The product, in the report: Piccalio mini chef convertible helper tower

The Piccalio mini chef helper Tower can cause a head first fall because of the bars at the top not at all being secured. If you push on the front bar, it moves downward as in the design to make it foldable. So when a child is standing on it and pushes there hands down on that bar, it pushes the whole bar down, causing a huge risk of them falling out the front

I want to report the Piccalio Foldable Helper Tower: https://piccalio.com/products/mini-chef-foldable-helper-tower

This product is absolutely unsafe for children and should absolutely not be in the market. The risk of falls is so extreme and it has absolutely no safety measures in place.

My 18 month old who’s totally firm and had been in several helpers towers before with no issues had terrible falls from this tower, to a point where I just decided to stop using it after only 1 week of use.

I can’t stress enough how I wish I knew how poorly designed this item was.

We were testing out the Piccalio Mini Chef Foldable Helper Tower before giving it to our child. The top handlebar has a rod in the front and back which is designed to glide/move in order to collapse (as the tower is advertised as being foldable for storage). The front bar is positioned just at the height for a child to grab, generally a few inches below counter height. Once built, the bar feels rather secure and has some stick to it, making it seem like it is available for holding with some pressure. When testing it out, one of the adults held on to the front handlebar thinking it was secure and leaned over to look at the adjustable platform heights. The handlebar then gave way and the back bar came flying up, hitting the adult on the skull just along the eye socket with significant force. Thankfully the bar didn’t hit the eye, though the adult had a significant bruise and swelling. If a child were to be placed on the top platform height and grabbed/leaned onto the front bar at all, the back bar would come up at just the right height to crash into the back of their head, potentially causing significant injury. Another adult, wanting to test out the handlebars against the cabinet to see if it would prevent any movement, bruised a finger when pushing down and realizing the circular path of the glide forces the bar forward, so even if the back bar doesn’t cause any injuries, a child grabbing onto the front bar could seriously bruise their fingers when smashed between the front bar and cabinet or countertop. The issue could be solved with a simple removable pin or latch to keep the bars in place, which I recommended to the company in my email complaint.

The product, in the report: From the website: https://piccalio.com/products/mini-chef-convertible-helper-tower Our Mini Chef Convertible is a Montessori inspired kitchen helper tower that also transforms into a table in a few easy steps! This learning platform tower acts like kitchen helper stool for your child to safely reach kitchen counters. After your little one finishes preparing a snack with the help of the toddler tower, you can turn the convertible tower into a table where your toddler can happily sit and eat. It’s a sturdy and safe way to have them join you with brushing teeth, playing games, prepare meals, washing dishes or anything that requires a little bit of extra height.

I ordered a “convertible chef’s kitchen learning tower” for my grandson. We soon realized it is not stable - he almost tumbled sideways in it more than once. He also almost pulled it down on himself when he was trying to climb on it. We added wooden braces to it to make it more stable - it was an improvement, but not 100%. A week or so later, my grandson casually pulled out one of the latches that was supposed to be holding the two parts of the stool/table together.
