12 inch plastic step stool failed after 4 uses, 2 days after purchase. It is rated 300#, my wife weights less that 200#. She was using the stool on an even (hardwood) floor. Part of the hinge on the side broke and the stool collapsed. Fortunately she was not injured.

The stool was purchased at WalMart (house brand) “MAINSTAYS One-Step Folding Foot Stool” 12 inches high UPC 847539096308.

The product, in the report: Mainstays Kids Folding Step Stool Navy/Green

My 4YR daughter was standing on the stool in front of where the dishwasher door was open while I was unloading the dishwasher and I heard a crash turned around and she was on the floor between the stool and dishwasher door. I was unsure what had happened until I saw she had really hurt her self. I picked her up and settled her down and went back to check the stool and that is when I noticed the stool had buckled and that is what caused her fall. She hurt her hand and also tailbone area. Nothing was broke just bruising.
