The product, in the report: Black with white dots on top

My grandkids ages 4 to almost 2 years old use this step stool. My four year old Grandaughter and almost 2 year old grandson use it to get up on my bed or to use bathroom sink or toilet. Last night my Grandaughter went to get up on my bed using this step stool. Stool collapsed and she hurt her left side of leg falling. After tending to her injury and crying. I picked up stool and there was cracks through the sides below the base. Very upsetting considering it claims it holds up to 300 pounds. This product needs recalled. Fortunately no bones broke or any other injuries! Very traumatizing for her.

I bought a Rhino step stool From Bed Bath and Beyond for my daughter to get onto her lofted college bed. She is way under the maximum weight requirement and stepped onto it to get into bed and the stool broke through the center. Her foot went through it completely and she fell backwards. Her leg received scrape marks from the plastic edges where it broke.

Made Dec 18, 2012, sent to the company Jan 7, 2013, published by CPSC Jan 22, 2013

The product, in the report: Small 9inch tall folding step stool

I have had two (2) of the same items, a small folding stool. The first collapsed and broke, so I exchanged it for an identical replacement at the Container Store. The replacement broke too and I fell to the ground as a result. Luckily I was not hurt, but I have had it in mind to log a report ever since with the Consumer Products Safety Agency. The product has a clearly marked sticker stating a maximum weight of 300 lb.. but I was 220 lbs. at the time... i.e., no where near the 300 lbs. maximum.

I informed the company and they sent a box with return label for me to ship it back. They were going to refund the money but I thought a government agency should be informed about this issue before someone gets seriously injured.

The product, in the report: Folding step stool

I contacted [REDACTED] regarding this step stool recall (http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml12/12171.html). However, they responded to my request for a replacement step stool by claiming the product I owned was not produced by them. I have an identical step stool to the type covered by the recall that cracked soon after my first use. I purchased this stool at Crate and Barrel Outlet in 2011. It is possible that it was produced by Kikkerland (http://www.kikkerland.com/products/step-stool-in-multiple-colors/). Will this company also be recalling its step stools? They appear identical to the ones in the [REDACTED] recall and like theirs, mine cracked within the first month of use.

The product, in the report: 9” high step stool; holds up to 300 lbs; high grip dots, anti skid pad. Safety certified: passes ANSI Type 2 stool load requirements Black step stool with white grip dots

We have a Kikkerland Easy Fold Step Stool. The model is ZZ09-BK. The stool has been manufactured in China. This product closely matches the [REDACTED] Folding Step Stool that has recently been recalled. From the pictures, the two products are identical. We have had the step stool for about six months. Within that time, the step stool has cracked on the top portion by the handle. While I can snap the pieces back in place, we have to regularly check the cracked area to make sure the pieces have not misaligned again and pose a laceration hazard.

The product, in the report: Folding plastic step stool, 9” tall

I have a Kikkerland 9” plastic step stool, extremely similar to the [REDACTED] version currently being recalled. I weigh only 145lbs, but when I stepped in the center of it, it cracked and I lost my balance and fell. The stool is rated to 300lbs, but obviously not when placed all in the center. I sustained no injuries, other than a bruise to my arm where I hit the granite counter top and the broken glass to clean up from the dropped tumbler.
