The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Guidecraft NBA Cleveland Cavaliers Storage Step-Up (Item # G122XX, PO # 0000393)
We purchased a Guidecraft NBA Cleveland Cavaliers Storage Step-Up (Item # G122XX, PO # 0000393).
Recently our child was standing on the step stool to wash his hands when it collapsed. As you can see from the attached pictures, the cam locks failed and the bolts sheared through the front panel. Fortunately, he was not hurt when the step stool collapsed.
The retailer does not sell this item any more and would not offer a refund.
We also have another one that we are afraid to use given the unexpected and catastrophic manner in which this one failed.
I note that the step stools currently for sale by this manufacturer do not seem to use the cam lock system.

Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 18, 2011, published by CPSC Sep 9, 2011
The product, in the report: Red Sox Storage Step Stool
I bought a RedSox Storage step stool made by Guide Craft, and I used it myself one and broke thru the bottom step.I was under the impression that this was all wood. You cannot tell because it is completely painted. I know there is a recall at Target for the same thing. I contacted the company and the representative just said well it is a child’s and I shouldn’t have stepped on it,well duh,I know that now and Like I said, I thought it was all wood(for 65 dollars it should have been). She is checking to see if there is a replacement for the broken step that I can purchase. And she also said the give the stores the sell them papers about weight limits that they can pass on. You would think that this would be given out automatically or at least have stickers on them regarding that. Well, with the Target recall going on, I thought you should be aware of this also.. I called the Guide Craft Company this morning. 8/18/2011.
