The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Kikkerland ZZ09-BK Easy Fold Step Stool black, w/ white polka dots on top

We have a Kikkerland ZZ09-BK step stool that recently cracked in two areas on the top, near the handle. This model appears to be nearly identical, other than color, to the ZZ09-GR stool included in Alert #10-720 “Kikkerland Design Recalls Foldable Step Stools Sold By QVC Due to Fall Hazard.”

Our stool was purchased approximately 24 to 36 months ago, from Powell’s Books on Hawthorne, 3723 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214.

The product, in the report: Easy Fold Step Stool

I was informed that here was a recall for a step stool that was sold on [REDACTED]. I realized that this was exactly like the one I purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond. It is the same manufacturer and has the dame model #. The only difference is the one on [REDACTED] has a GR after the model # indicating black. Mine has a BK indicating black. Upon examining the one I have, I see that it has the potential to fail as your report states. The hinges can come apart very easily. There is nothing to secured them in place. There should be a rod of some type that goes through each hinge to preclude separation. I went to the [REDACTED] web site and found reviews from consumers who have had very negative experiences with the item such as “breaking immediately”
