  1. First aid

Made Aug 11, 2022, sent to the company Aug 19, 2022, published by CPSC Sep 2, 2022

The product, in the report: Step stool (with 1 step)

8/8/2022: The 178 lbs, 59 years old, female consumer climbed on the stepping ladder and within 1 – 2 seconds, the ladder broke and she fell.

She fell on her right side and hit her body against the refrigerator. She also landed on the broken plates that were in her hand. She sustained bruising and cuts to her right arm and a cut and bruise to her right leg, just above the knee. She has bruising on the right side. The consumer’s right leg continues to ache and she may need to see a doctor at a later time.

The stool was on the wood kitchen floor at the time of the incident.

The consumer has not been able to work since that time.

She called the dealer and was advised to bring it back. The consumer said she wanted to make a report and they advised her to contact their Human Resources Department. The consumer tried to call that department, but has never been able to speak with anyone.

She also tried calling the brand name company from the stool, but their number has been disconnected.

She also said that it appears that the dealer’s employers used these stools and when they were done, they sell them. Her stool is dirty on the bottom and she believes that is from use at the dealer’s store.

Lastly, the design of the stool appears similar to the ones in CPSC Recall# [REDACTED], but they have different brand names.
