The product, in the report: Black five step folding steel ladder purchased from Temu. Advertised as a heavy duty ladder with a 350 pound weight capacity, wide anti slip steps, handrails and a safety locking design. The ladder suffered a structural failure in its lower section near the second step during normal use.

purchased a five step folding ladder from Temu. The product was advertised as a heavy duty ladder with a weight capacity of 350 pounds. While I was standing on the fifth step, the lower structure suddenly failed near the second step. The ladder collapsed and I fell, injuring my right foot, ankle and back. I received emergency medical care and diagnostic imaging. An ankle X ray raised concern for a possible fracture, but a subsequent CT scan did not confirm an acute fracture. Orthopedic follow up was recommended. I am concerned that this ladder presents a serious safety hazard to other consumers. I have preserved the actual broken ladder in its condition after the accident, without repair or modification. It is available for physical inspection by CPSC investigators. I also have photographs of the broken ladder, purchase records, product advertisements, medical records and correspondence with Temu. I request that CPSC investigate this product and determine whether safety action, including a recall, is warranted.

(10/20/2026) I contacted I contacted Temu regarding the ladder’s structural failure and my resulting injuries, and I have retained the correspondence.
