No one hurt Made Jun 25, 2022, sent to the company Jun 29, 2022, published by CPSC Jul 14, 2022
The product, in the report: Little Giant Xtra Lite Plus ladder. The ladder is mainly aluminum, but has plastic parts that easily break. This ladder is supposed to be able to be used by a 375 lb person. I am only 180 lbs., and was only using the handle to help steady my climb up the ladder. I was NOT standing on the handle.
I’ve had the Little Giant Xtra Lite+ ladder for about 3 months. My wife and I barely use it. As I began to use it today, the handle broke completely off in my hand. I’m nimble enough that I landed on my feet, but someone else could easily get injured. I purchased this ladder from Lowes so I decided to write an online review - only to discover this exact problem is a major topic of negative reviews.

The product, in the report: Little Giant Mega Max Additional Information: 300 Duty Rated Extra Heavy Duty Rating: Type 1A Model: 17 Manufacturer Part Number:14417 Costco Part Number: 787841
I purchased a Little Giant Mega Max ladder ( product date code: 10272S) from Costco in [REDACTED] in April of 2017. Last week on 8/3/2017 at my home in [REDACTED] I experienced a failure in the ladder’s locking mechanism which resulted in a severe bodily injury. I had deployed the ladder in the extension ladder configuration when the locking mechanism disengaged and the ladder slide downward and twisted in one motion. In that sudden movement my right ankle was caught between the twisted rungs of the ladder and I simultaneously hit the ground awkwardly with the rung of the ladder striking my shin. The resulting injury was a fracture of my ankle, that will now require a surgical repair. I believe a further Investigation should be undertaken to reduce risk for other consumers.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jun 11, 2017, sent to the company Jun 28, 2017, published by CPSC Jul 13, 2017
The product, in the report: 23’ little giant ladder, versatile ladder, extension or step ladder with work platform at top of ladder when being used as a step version it also has the extra adjustable extensions for yards that are not the same on both sides of ladder. It has orangish red flip type buttons for locking and unlocking ladder positions.
I was using ladder while pressure washing a home. And have had this problem on a few other times. Well up towards the top of ladder there is a platform that lets out for you to put paint cans, supplies, and etc .... well the* platform/shelf is almost a completely flush with the step so if you reach out to grab it for safety or bbc you’ve lost your balance, you might be sol or out of luck like I had been on this day. I had to make the best of this fall bbc my feet were wet from cleaning the house and 1 hand had the wand from the washer and my other hand didn’t have any thing to grab a hold to bc that area was completely flush or smooth so I had no choice but to brace for the sudden stop when hit the ground from about 10 foot up. And if it was just this 1 time I wouldn’t be typing this but it has happened on several different times where it was a close call, where it made your heart stop 4 a second. I work outside on ladders and things every day and this is the only ladder I’ve ever had an issue with so to let you know that if I’m typing this , then they will soon be getting a law suit from other people that don’t have good balance as I do and don’t have the mental or the strength to recover from the close calls of falling bc of not having a way to catch yourself before falling to the ground, they would’ve broken some bones where I was lucky not to have

Emergency room Made Apr 1, 2013, sent to the company Apr 9, 2013, published by CPSC Apr 23, 2013
The product, in the report: Telescopic Stepladder
I was replacing the bulbs of the security light fixture outside my garage fronting the driveway, when on the way down after replacing one of them, the latch of the left leg I was standing on (3rd step) collapsed and I fall backward together with the ladder. I fell flat on my lower back and good thing I protected my head. I got up right away hoping that there no serious injury on me, then I grabbed an ice pack and put in on my lower back. I still manage to walk for a while then after more than an hour I could hardly walk, that is when I call my son to take me to the emergency, and they told me that I have a minor compressed fracture of my vertebrae.
The ladder that I used is the SWITCH-IT by Little Giants thru Home Depot with part no. 15124 and Date Stamp 10622S. I should have received at least a warning from both firm about the recall so that I could have avoided this injury, for this product liability.

No one hurt Made Feb 19, 2013, sent to the company Feb 28, 2013, published by CPSC Mar 15, 2013
The product, in the report: Little Giant Ladder - Flip-N-Lite - Model 6 - Batch #10722S
purchased 3 Flip and light ladders from Little Giant on July 2012 and shipped in September 2012. Noticed on all 3 ladders that the 2nd rung are splitting apart from the bottom in the exact spot. All 3 ladders are experiencing this in the exact same spot. All 3 ladders have the same manufatures batch number. batch # 10722S.
Contacted Wing Enterprises, Inc, and they are not willing to warranty this, even though it is under warranty for 1 year.
My concern is that they have sold these ladders to consumers who havent used it often and may not have experienced this issue YET.
None of our ladders are abused and with only 4 months of wear and tear are experiencing significant safety issues. These ladders are a saftey hazard for anyone who attempts to step on the 2nd rung and may fall and cause self injury.
Again Wing Enterprises, Inc. Isnt willing to explore this issue. I am also aware that Home Depot had a similar experience with Wing Enterprises, Inc and had them ALL recalled. Obviously I am not Home Depot and dont carry theeor weight.
