The product, in the report: Carpeting, wall-to-wall, room size.

On June 2015 we purchases wall-to-wall carpeting from Lowes Hardware. The carpet as it ages emits a gaseous odor that takes our breath away at times when we have the house closed up. We expected that for new carpeting, but after 1 year past the odor continues, concentrated, and is now a health hazard for me as I have severe asthma. We use a whole room air filter system which does little to remove the gaseous oder. We have to keep windows open in all weather to air out the smell. Now after 14 mos past and the carpet seems to be disintegrating, and the gaseous smell sickens us, especially in humid or foggy weather where vapors are concentrated closer to the floor. I have called Lowes several times about this, and continue to be ignored, The gaseous smell is like burned rubber or plastic, and causes anyone entering out home to gasp to breath our house air. We keep a very clean home, and vacuum with our Shark vacuum twice a week throughout the house. Also, since getting this carpet installed, smoke alarms go off often in the night. We bought new smoke alarms, installed new batteries in them, and still have this problem. I believe the alarms are picking up the gas smell.

Our house is 15 yrs old, and we had it built. Our old carpet still remains in the bedrooms and looks better than the disintegrating new carpet. The new carpet already looks old and beat up, My husband and I (age 70) live in the house, and we have a small dog also. I appealed again today to Lowes to consider the matter, and after I told them I am ready to call a lawyer over this, they said that they will have the carpet manufacturer contacted, and the carpet will likely be tested.

Meanwhile, I seek any information as to what, if any, complaints are issued about carpeting smell and health hazards. I checked for this information online, so much confusing information for the lay person to sort out. I feel that this carpet is a serious health hazard and needs checking into.

Is there any chance I could have testing done on my carpet, its under padding, and glue used for installation? Would you please recommend a resource for that.

Thank you for your consideration of my complaint. You may contact me: [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
