The product, in the report: This is the link to the product: [REDACTED]. It is a grey rug that is 5 feet by 8 feet in dimension. It has a white plastic bottom layer and the soft grey material that makes it a rug feels like many soft and very fine fibers. It is very thin.
I bought a rug from Amazon from the brand “Twinnis” and when I opened the vacuum sealed plastic bag the rug was in, I immediately noticed an overwhelming chemical odor that smelled like nail polish. I laid the rug down and sat on it to do some stretching since I have injuries and after a little bit of time, I started to have burning skin and trouble breathing. I noticed as I brushed the rug with my hands that a layer of some kind of rubbery or plasticky material coated my hand after. I repeated washing my hands and feeling the rug which proved to me that the substance was on the rug. The substance was very difficult to remove off my skin and I had to keep washing my hands in hot water which didn’t even fully remove it. My sinuses are totally dried out and my skin is so dry that it wrinkles where it normally doesn’t. I am in pain right now in my chest and every time I breathe it hurts more. I can feel that my tongue is burning and even that my eyes are extremely dried out. The pungent odor from the rug radiated to everywhere in my room and my bedding material now smells like it so I’m afraid to use my bed anymore. I’ve had a similar thing happen with some pillows I bought from amazon as well where I couldn’t breathe properly and it hurt to breathe. It has been hours since I first came into contact with the rug and my skin is still burning for example on my arms where I already washed them with water. I don’t know what to do at this point but I think this product is too hazardous to sell to consumers.
