The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jul 19, 2016, sent to the company Jul 27, 2016, published by CPSC Aug 12, 2016

The product, in the report: Area rug in shades of red. Made in Turkey. 5 feet 2 inches by 7 feet 2 inches. Composition material heat set polypropylene, backing is jute. It contains latex.

I purchased a rug from Ashley Furniture. It is an area rug. When it arrived it was in its original packaging. When the package was opened the rug had a very strong odor of chemicals. It did not have the expected “new rug” smell. Instead it smelled like some kind of solvent or other chemicals. We left it in a room with the windows open and that did not dissipate the smell. We have left it outside for a few days and it still stinks. It has given me headaches and I couldn’t sleep in the same room with the rug. It is a terrible smell which I think is not safe to be around at all.
