The product, in the report: Maytex Smart Rod Shower Rod. It is a curved rod that advertises no drilling and no damage.
The Maytex Smart Rod shower ( Maytex Mills New york made in China) rod is made unreasonably for its intended use. It is supposed to be an unmounted curved shower rod. Yet, the weight of this rod is quite heavy compared to other unmounted straight rods and to add to the problem, it does not stay in place properly, probably a mixture of the weight and curve. It came down on my 6 year olds head and put her in the hospital. The product is dangerous and a real safety concern to consumers. A shower rod this heavy should be mounted or it should be made lighter weight if they are going to continue to sell it as an unmounted rod. I have seen a lot of complaints online that this product rusts really bad, if we had owned this product longer to the point of it rusting (seems to be about 6 months per reviews) the situation could have been so much worse. If it had been a rusty rod that lacerated my child’s this situation potentially could haven been deadly.
