I recently had a bathtub installed for a remodel and while I was cleaning it last week, I cut my fingers on splintered acrylic which also rammed into my finger like a sliver. The tub had split along the bottom, along the edges, and along the sides. I thought what I was cleaning was dirt line in the tub, but found out the tub had actually cracked. This tube is extremely dangerous and should be discontinued or recalled. I have pictures of the bathtub and the cracks.

(10/21/2011) Masco Corporation : On October 2010, Masco Bath received this report that an unidentified consumer complains that she cut her finger and engaged a sliver when cleaning a Firenze model bath tub, apparently due to a crack in the tub. It should be noted that the consumer in this case did not contact Masco Bath when the incident occurred and so Masco Bath was never afforded the opportunity to inspect the tub to determine its condition or the way in which it was installed. In our experience, the only time a Firenze tub will crack is if it has been installed without proper support for the base or where a user has abused the tub by, for example, jumping up and down with force.
The material, polystyrene plastic, will splinter when cracked in this way, although cracking of the material is rarely reported. We regret the consumer in this case experienced a problem with this product but cannot comment further absent and opportunity to see the way the tub was installed and to inspect the crack. We do believe, however, that the crack described by this customer would not pose a risk of significant personal and does not amount to a substantial product hazard.

(5/17/2011) Masco Corporation : We instruct installers to install these products in a plumb, square and level manner. The alleged incident appears to be the result of improper installation. We are not aware of other similar incidents of personal injuries caused by cracks in Firenze tubs.
