The product, in the report: Unitex ANSI Z97.1-1984

Shower door model Unitex ANSI Z97.1-1984 exploded. 10 year old child, got into the shower, turned water on and after a minute or two the sliding door exploded into a million pieces. Kid started screaming and crying, cuts all over his feet and hip (not sure how the hip happened). None were deep enough to require hospitalization or serious medical attention...wife bandaged him up had to dig a few small shards out of his feet, blood everywhere. Googled the model of the door and found we were not alone. Dangerous product.

Glass Shower Doors Shattered Suddenly on April 17, 2015.. My son who is just 2 years old had just stepped into the tub, the water was running, all of a sudden the glass shower doors shattered. I heard an explosion followed by my husband screaming. I walked into the bathroom and couldn’t believe what I saw. The bathroom was covered in tiny pieces of glass, I couldn’t even see the floor. Blood and glass all over the bathroom. An ambulance rushed my son to Joe DiMaggio Children’s hospital, he had suffered multiple cuts and lacerations all over his body requiring several stitches. My husband also had suffered multiple cuts.

Husband had just gotten in shower and turned on water when glass shower door panel exploded into a million pieces. Blood and glass everywhere. He had cuts on his foot and scratches all over his body from the flying glass pieces. I have five children, if one of them had been in this shower they could have been killed. Glass appeared to shatter right away from the hinges and door handle which came crashing to the floor. We saved the glass in buckets.

We have two other glass shower doors by the same manufacturer and are afraid those are now going to explode.

The product, in the report: Framed shower door with clear tempered glass. Door comprised of two sliding glass doors which measure approximately 59 inches wide X 70 inches high.

We arrived home to find that our sliding glass shower door had shattered. The broken glass was spread inside and outside the shower stall as if the door had exploded. No one was home. When we left home in the morning the door did not appear to have any visible damage. The door was approximately 4 years old. The shower is a walk in shower without the tub. I no longer have the exact brand name of the shower door manufacturer however I gathered the information from the remaining piece of glass. The information from the glass is:
