  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 31, 2016, sent to the company Aug 25, 2016, published by CPSC Sep 9, 2016

The product, in the report: Frameless tempered glass door Model: Signature Hinge frameless shower door and panel w/ finished height 78”

We hired [REDACTED] and his company The Right Handyman LLC of Columbus Ohio to refurbish our bathroom. Included with the refurbishment we purchased a frameless tempered glass door directly from [REDACTED]. The work was completed during autumn of 2015. On 5/22/16 the upper portion of the glass door spontaneously exploded. No one was in the bathroom at the time that the door exploded. We have attempted to work with [REDACTED] on a solution to the problem. We have expressed that we have concerns regarding the safety of the door as well as the quality of the installation job. Through research we have since learned that their is a history of frameless tempered glass doors spontaneously exploding. We have also learned that the glass door industry is well aware of this history yet they continue to sell these doors and they do not make a disclosure of the risk involved. We are appalled that this safety hazard was sold to us and installed in our home with no disclosure being made regarding the history of frameless tempered glass doors spontaneously exploding. We purchased the door directly from [REDACTED] and his company The Right Handyman LLC (158 Eastwood Ave., Westerville, OH 43081 - (614) 357-5154) - therighthandymanohio@gmail.com).
