The product, in the report: 3/8 heavy clear glass DBL acting door with glass guard non-water tight with 1/8 gaps with silver hardware
Glass shower was purchased and installed by Schererville Glass and Mirror in October 2011 shortly after closing on the house that I built.
While out of town from an entire weekend from 7/8/16 - 7/10/16, my shower cracked into a million tiny pieces while no one was in the house. I found it on 7/10 when I returned home. Since I was gone my thermostat was set to 82 degrees. I’m the only one that lives in my house, so I know the shower had never been abused (nothing ever hit it or fell into it). I assumed (wrongly) that this would be covered under Schererville Glass and Mirror’s warranty since no one was home and thus, nothing hit it. I hoped since it was a “freak accident” (their words) that they would stand behind their product and I’d be offered a discount (in the least) on my replacement, but I was wrong.
Instead, I was told that even though they had “never seen this happen” that “these things can happen” because “houses settle.”
