  1. No one hurt

Made May 25, 2026, sent to the company Jun 2, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 16, 2026

The product, in the report: Product name- Peterson Shower Glass Color- clear size- unknown dimensions- unknown

The product involved was a frameless tempered glass shower door installed in a newly constructed home purchased in March 2023. The shower door was installed by Atlantic Venetian Blind & Awning as part of the home construction completed by [REDACTED]. The shower was being used under normal household conditions and had not been misused, struck, or damaged prior to the incident.

In December 2025, the glass shower door unexpectedly shattered/exploded without warning. At the time of the incident, the shower door was in regular use as intended for bathing purposes. The incident raised significant safety concerns because shattered tempered glass can cause serious lacerations and injuries. Although no major physical injuries occurred, there was a strong potential for injury due to the large amount of shattered glass dispersed throughout the bathroom area.

After the incident, attempts were made to obtain information regarding the manufacturer, warranty coverage, and possible causes of the failure. Possible explanations later mentioned included manufacturing defects, hardware stress, or improper maintenance guidance regarding hinges and handles. However, no maintenance instructions warning that handles or hinges could loosen and create a safety risk had been provided to the homeowner.

This report is being submitted because a shower glass door that should have been safe for normal residential use failed unexpectedly and created a potentially dangerous consumer safety hazard.
