The product, in the report: frameless glass shower enclosure model 105759/105753 with optional wall panels.

I was in the process of installing a glass wall panel for a frameless glass shower enclosure in the basement bathroom of my home. The acrylic floor pan and fiberglass walls had already been installed and it was time to install the two glass side panels and door. My son and I were tilting one glass side panel up on a corner to remove a small rubber gasket from the panel that had become stuck to the bottom edge of the panel during the installation process. The protective corner cap was installed on the corner of the glass panel. As he was standing over me slightly tilting the panel, suddenly the panel shattered in my son’s hands and glass fell in a pile on the floor and fell on me as I was kneeling beside the panel to remove the stuck gasket on the bottom edge as described above. I received cuts on my head, hands and leg as it seemed like the glass was falling to the floor in slow motion - it just kept coming. This incident could have been tragic - we were lucky that no cuts were extremely serious. I think that the manufacturer could be blamed, MAAX Bath Inc. in Canada, and Menard’s in Evendale, OH USA. Firstly, MAAX packaged the shower with the three glass panels and the shower base in one box - this weighed well over 100 pounds and was awkward to move. I had purchased the shower enclosure online at Menard’s. When I went to pick it up, I found that the workers in the shipping area at Menard’s had broken open the shipping box (possibly with rough handling) the glass panels were touching the concrete floor through a gap in the slats of the shipping pallet that it was standing up on. However the glass panels had the corner caps on and did not appear to be damaged. But just to be sure that there was no damage we completely removed the shipping box to check the contents - it all appeared to be okay, so I hauled it home. Little did I know that the glass probably had been pre-stressed from the rough handling at Menard’s and could have shattered at any time. This could have been horrific. I have plenty of pictures of the shattered glass and injuries I received. I am going to ask Menard’s for a refund - this was an expensive unit at well over $1,000. Now I need to figure out how to dispose of the two remaining glass panels in my house without them shattering.
