  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jul 27, 2017, sent to the company Aug 7, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 21, 2017

The product, in the report: Tempered glass shower door/enclosure.  Purchased from The Kitchen-Bath and Cabinet Company of Champaign (217-352-1900), contractor Delmedico Construction Incorporated (217-355-1329). Contacted both, [REDACTED] of Bath and Cabinet said it would have been ordered from Southeastern Aluminum (1-800-439-2153). All parties are telling me they do not have any paperwork. I have copies of proposal from Kitchen and Bath dated 9/6/11 and invoice from Delemdico Construction dated 10/6/11. Description on the proposal is, “Brushed nickel shower door 39-1/2 hing rt.: $577.33. Description on invoice is, “Shower door installed” I phoned Southeastern Aluminum, who said they could not help without the paperwork. Kitchen-Bath and Cabinet Company of Champaign 1806 Camp Drive Champaign, IL 61821 (217)352-1900 FAX (217)352-2008 Order: Valdes W39-3/4 W39-1/2 x 68-1/2 Shower 1+ RI- 39-1/2 68-1/4 Brush Nickel Clear glass Prefer 24” Door or 27” door max. Door hinge on right side with latch in center against fixed panel.

A tempered glass shower door exploded while we were out of town. It was discovered when we had returned and I stepped on a piece of glass in the bedroom, 12 feet away from the shower. Temperatures are maintained in our home by a timed thermostat, ranging from 75-82 for minimum and maximum temperatures. The shower was installed in a guest room in the fall of 2011 and has been rarely used.

Glass looks to have blown out in both directions as it is both in the shower and scattered across the bathroom floor.

The glass was in an aluminum framed shower door, which was professionally manufactured and installed. The shower has only been used by adult guests and has not been subjected to abuse. Fortunately, as we were out of town when it happened, the only injury sustained was a minor one from stepping on the piece of glass on carpet.
