The product, in the report: Dreamline Infinity-Z Sliding Glass shower door Model # SHDR-0960720-04
I purchased Dreamline Infinity-Z shower door online from Home Depot and installed it in February 2016. On June 6 2016 a single roller supporting the door broke and the entire sliding piece fell down, and exploded onto my wife as she exited the shower. She received two large lacerations on her foot, which severed two tendons as the glass broke into large chunks. The piece that was responsible for the collapse is made of cheap plastic, but is made to appear as if it is metal. The door is advertised as being made of glass and aluminum and this is deceptive as the most important safety piece is actually not aluminum or metal at all, but is cheap breakable plastic. This puts consumers at unnecessary risk, as I believe this would not have happened if the hardware were metal. There needs to be more oversight for these companies as they are allowed to sell products that have the potential to kill and are cutting corners to save a little money. Our family is only beginning to heal.
