The product, in the report: glass shower door
The submitter is reporting the product for posing a laceration and injury hazard.
While she was showering the glass door exploded. She had been in the shower for about five minutes and she used lukewarm water. She indicated that she was in the process of turning when the incident occurred. She sustained a laceration to her right foot which required stitches and she had minor lacerations on her right hip, leg, foot and the right side of her back. She was taken to the ER at [REDACTED]and treated for her injuries.
The submitter said there was glass embedded in the marble counter and on the walls in the bathroom. She has the glass pieces in her possession.
She indicated that the retailer installed the unit and she contacted them to report the incident. The retailer then contacted the firm on her behalf and reported the matter. The firm responded to the retailer, stating that their glass doesn’t explode and they would not provide free repairs or replacements.
She is dissatisfied with the firm’s response and she believes they should be responsible with replacing the glass free of charge.

Emergency room Made Mar 13, 2017, sent to the company Mar 31, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 21, 2017
The product, in the report: Glass sliding shower door, the name of the style is Serenity, the glass is called Bubbles.
I was getting ready to take a shower. I barely touched the glass shower door with my right hand to slide it open, when the glass exploded and fell all over me and around me. Sharp glass shards cut my hand, upper arms, chest, toes, ankles and the entire front of my body. Since my head was bent forward, my face and my eyes were spared, but I had tiny glass shards and needle like fragments in my hair and all over my shoulders. After the shock subsided, my husband put some bath mats on the floor so I could take a few steps without stepping on broken glass. I was bloody all over. We ended up at the emergency room for my hand to be bandaged, because the cut was so large, and the bleeding did not stop.

No one hurt Made Feb 1, 2013, sent to the company Feb 11, 2013, published by CPSC Mar 5, 2013
The product, in the report: tempered glass shower door
At 3:50 am on January 29, 2013, I awoke to the sound of my shower door exploding. I was so loud and forceful that we thought someone had crashed thru the window in our bathroom. The shower door had not been touched since 9pm the night before. Luckily, no one was awake in my house when this happened. Had this happened at 9pm or 6am there would have been injuries. We were told that the maker of the glass was Cardinal.
