Emergency room Made Jun 1, 2020, sent to the company Nov 19, 2020, published by CPSC Dec 4, 2020
The product, in the report: Enigma frameless, bath shower door (1 panel slid and the other was stationary) Model SHDR-61606210-08 (Item# 462334)
The consumer’s 20 year old son had just finished taking a shower and was sliding 1 panel to open the door, when it shattered (dime sized tempered glass shards). Pieces flew all across the floor, in the tub and in the toilet. The son placed a towel on the floor to exit the bathroom. However, he sustained lacerations to his feet and hands.
The son was taken to the ER for medical treatment. His wounds were cleaned, and medical tape was applied to his lacerations as well as glue. He was released the same day and no follow up appointments were needed
4/2020: A few days after the incident, the consumer called the firm and reported the incident to their rep. Initially the firm’s rep. offered to replace it with the same item shower door, but the consumer declined that offer. The consumer sent the firm pictures and followed up with them by a 2nd call.
The consumer said their rep. had numerous questions such as: 1) Did they maintain the shower door, 2) had they taken care of it properly or installed it correctly.
There was further discussion and the rep. asked for additional pictures, which the consumer provided. The firm’s rep. told the consumer that it appeared that one piece was not installed correctly.
However, the consumer spoke with her installer and he assured her that everything was installed properly. Nothing else was offered by the firm.
Prior to this incident, the consumer has never experienced any issues with this shower door.
This manufacturer did not have any recalls on their product, but there have been several prior reports on their shower doors in www.saferproduct.gov

Emergency room Made Jul 14, 2017, sent to the company Jul 26, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 9, 2017
The product, in the report: ENIGMA-X 44-in to 48-in WX76in H.Frameless sliding shower door
On the 4th of July we had family visiting us.One of the family members used the shower and as she was getting out of the shower and opened the shower door (Tempered glass),the door shattered and crumbled down within seconds into multiple small pieces spontaneously..she sustained severe laceration to the wrist ,barely missing the nerve and arteries, multiple small laceration on forearm, and on both lower extremity.she was bleeding profusely, was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance where her bleeding was controlled, and the laceration was sutured both on her wrist and lower extremity. She continues to have persistent pain and numbness in her Right hand, and being a right handed person has difficulty to do her daily activities. This incident has traumatized her not only physically but emotionally, and has put a burden on the family economically as she is not able to do her job. These are expensive glass shower enclosures , the manufacturer does not mention anywhere there is risk of spontaneous shattering of these doors.Since we have small children at home we do not want this incident repeated , and want the public to be aware of the possibility of of glass shattering and severe injuries. Kindly make sure that this message gets out to the public, and the manufacturers keep their customers well informed regarding the risks.
